YOU are telling us.. Date: 5/11/2009 Author: Sherry Baker
Today I happened to login and saw your emails and read them. Us baby boomers are having a tough time securing work. I think a lot of it is age discrimination. I also think having any sort of disability puts us at the back of the line. I am 61 and I have tinnitus.
It really puzzles me why any prospective employer shuns older aged people in our generation. I guess they think we're just interested in short term work but there's no guarantee a young person will commit to long term. Of course I need to remember it's a younger generation in the HR department these days and I suppose they are only tuned in to their generation. I'd still be employed today at my old job if I wasn't downsized after 31 years. Anyways, I keep looking for opportunities and keep submitting my resume. Maybe one day somebody will take a chance on me. So I am writing to you to say thank you for all your time and effort that you are putting into the 55pluspros website. It is much appreciated.
Regards,
Doug in Ancaster (near Hamilton), Ontario
