A message from Sherry Baker as the Fall of 2009 sets in and the economy shows signs of turning around.
WECOME…
…to the new, improved www.55pluspros.ca website. We are delighted to have those of you who have been with us over the past 3 years and have chosen to remain. We are also pleased to welcome all the newly invigorated registrants who are pinning some of their employment hopes on our site.
We know how difficult it has been - and still is – for Job Seekers "of a certain age" to find meaningful work. We also know how hard it is for employers to meet strained budgets in these very trying economic times.
As the owner of this business, and an experienced and often frustrated Job Seeker, now into my 70's, I pledge to you all, Job Seeker and employer alike, that I will search out jobs, look for opportunities, invite you to participate with me through email (sherryb@55pluspros.ca) and generally share our experiences, our successes and dogged determination in meeting our employment goals.
Our first big change is the offer to employers to post jobs on the site for FREE at least until March 31, 2010. We will review our progress then and decide whether we will be able to continue this practice or whether we will have to charge a nominal fee from then on.
Secondly, we now have ads appear on our site, for which we will be paid a small amount each time one of our registrants clicks on the ad. You will see these ads on the bottom left side of the home page with a little down arrow which will lead to more. They also appear on various pages as you scroll through the site. I invite you to “take a look” if they interest you.
We will also be putting in place the opportunity for our employers to place their logo and/or advertise on the site for a fee. Please contact info@55pluspros.ca if you are interested. We have PayPal in place and can also invoice and receive payment by cheque. Watch for the announcement when this is ready to be launched.
Lastly, I will be searching for interesting articles and will be posting these links on the site. I also encourage registrants to email their ideas and experiences for inclusion on this "Blog Post". Send them to info@55pluspros.ca and I will be happy to review them. I have agreed to link with another Job Seeker, Kate Bridger, who is going to start writing regular articles for us. She will post "teasers" in Kate's Corner. I expect this to launch before the end of October and will certainly notify you then
Any other ideas which you may have to help make this website really work for you, either as a Job Seeker or as an employer are most welcome.
We are poised to be at the vanguard of change and we need the help of all of you to make it happen!
